David Hamilton - CIS Russ Jackson Award Winner!

Congratulations to former Warrior David Hamilton, the 2008 winner of the CIS Russ Jackson Award for "exemplifying the attributes of academics, athletics and community service."

Vanier Cup in Hamilton
The Vanier Cup (University of Western Ontario Mustangs versus University of Laval Rouge et Or) will be played at Ivor Wynne stadium in Hamilton at 2:00 pm on Saturday November 22nd.

Warriors Named in CIS Honours

This is announcement week in the CIS and the Warriors are well represented in the OUA and AUS !
Osie Ukwuoma (Queens) was named the OUA's lineman of the year and is their nominee for the CIS J.P. Metras Award. David Hamilton (U of T) was named as the OUA's nominee for the Russ Jackson Award (see new item below), given to the CIS player which exhibits outstanding achievement in three areas: athletic ability, academic achievement and citizenship. In the Atlantic conference, Jahmeek Murray (Saint Mary's) was named as the rookie of the year and is the AUS nominee for the Peter Gorman Trophy as CIS Rookie of the Year. (Click on AUS for the complete announcement.)

In Ontario, Osie was also named to the OUA first all-star team. Derek Batchelor (U of T) and Josh Bishop (Wilfred Laurier) were named to the second all-star team. ( OUA AllStars )

Time to Remember

Today we honour the memory of those that served our country in various wars and conflicts in the past.
We should also remember that there are young men like former Warrior Tommy Tibbals that have joined our Armed Forces to serve our country now.

As our 2008 season comes to a close, we wanted to publicly acknowledge the huge contribution of all those that have volunteered this year to help the Warriors' programmes – coaches, governors, registrars, trainers, field staff and our game day and special event “helpers”.
This has been a very successful season and it simply would not have been possible without the time and efforts of our volunteers! We recognize that many of you have put in countless hours in order to ensure that we could have such a great year.
Your contributions are truly appreciated.

The JV and Varsity teams are the OVFL champions for 2008 !
The JV's defeated Ottawa Cumberland 25-15, and the Varsity Warriors defeated Pickering Dolphins 28-21.
2008 OMFL Atom Champions
Congratulations to the Warriors White team, 2008 League champions and to the Warriors Red team, 2008 OMFL Atom Champions.
We're truly proud of both of our Atom teams!
Based on the feedback that we received, the OMFL championships (hosted by the Mississauga Warriors Football Club) were a great success. Many thanks to all the volunteers that pitched in to help make the day!
